Your invitations have arrived! You're one step closer to your big day. Before you can pop your suites in the mail, they'll need to be assembled. Putting the suites together is quick and easy to do, and we've created step-by-step guides for all of our embellishment options.
Whether you decide to assemble on your own, or make it a party with friends and family, putting the invitations together won't take long at all. We recommend gathering all your materials on a clean surface, and sorting by component.
TIP: We'll include a few extras of each item, however the number of extras will vary by piece, due to how they're sent to print.
Start by stacking your suite from largest to smallest. The first layer will be the invitation. From there you will add the large enclosure, the response envelope (addressed side up), the response card, and finally the small enclosure.
Belly Band Assembly
- 1. Lay the belly band over your neatly stacked suite, centering the personalization.
2. Apply pressure with your thumbs to the top of the band and enclosures to hold everything in place.
3. Wrap your index fingers around the back of the invite – you should be able to pick the suite up without anything moving.
4. Flip the suite towards you, so all of your information is face down and carefully pull one end of the band over the back and crease it. Repeat with the other end.
5. Pull both ends of the belly band tight, without bending the sides of your stationery.
6. Adhere together with the included glue dots.
Vellum Jacket and Wax Seal Assembly
- 1. Vellum jackets arrive flat, ready for assembly. Fold the left side of the jacket along the pre-scored line.
2. Slide your suite into the folded area of the jacket and pinch with your left hand.
3. After your suite has been centered within the vellum jacket, you may fold the right side along the other pre-scored line.
4. The jacket will slightly overlap on the front of the invitation. While holding the jacket in place, adhere the wax seal> to secure the flaps closed.
Ribbon Invitation Assembly
Ribbon arrives on spools and must be cut for assembly. We highly recommend fabric shears or new, unused scissors to ensure a clean, straight cut.
TIP: Cut the ends at a slight angle for a polished look.
- 1. Cut your ribbon to fit your suite. For portrait oriented suites we recommend 22” pieces. For landscape oriented suites, we recommend 31”.
2. Place your cut ribbon piece on the table in front of you, matte side up. You can then place your invitation suite in the middle on top.
3. Fold both ends across the front of the invitation suite and tuck the left end under the right end.
4. Pull both ends tight and place your right middle finger in the middle of the twist to prevent the tie from coming loose.
5. While you continue to apply pressure to the twist, use your left hand to fold the bottom piece upward, so it is parallel to the other end piece.
6. Next, fold the left end over top of the right and tuck it through the hole in the middle, like you’re tying your shoe.
7. Continue applying pressure to the twist while pulling the two ends tight.
Envelope Liner Assembly
If you ordered square flap envelopes, the envelope liners for those will have peel-and-stick adhesive already attached. If you ordered euro flap envelopes, those liners will come with adhesive rollers or tape strips for assembly.
- 1. Prepare your envelopes by opening the flaps and laying them flat in a pile.
TIP: If you’ve ordered double envelopes, you will only need the inner ungummed envelopes.
2. Begin assembling your liners. Place an envelope liner into an open envelope, tape side towards the top. Position it 1/4” from the top or gumming.
3. Hold the liner in place with one hand while slowly peeling away the backing with the other. Press and seal as you go.
4. Fold the flap over to crease the envelope liner. Use your thumbs to hold the liner close to the flap so the fold is made in the right place.
Mailing Your Invitations
Now that your suites are assembled, you're ready to stuff and seal your envelopes! We recommend sealing your suites with a bit of damp sponge. Too much moisture and the envelopes will wrinkle. Not enough, and the adhesive won't fully activate to seal. After you have your envelopes sealed, you'll want to take at least one assembled suite to the post office to be officially weighed before buying and applying postage. Suites with ribbon, wax seals, and/or on double thick stock, may require additional postage.
Once your invites are in the mail, it's time to sit back and relax while you wait for the RSVPS (and compliments!) to come in. You've checked a big to-do off your wedding planning list!
